Do Blogging Communities Exist?

Are you tired of reading the same 25 blogs every day?  Does it seem everyone talks about the same thing? Do you wish you could find new gaming blogs?

I just found this really cool tool on every Blogger blog.  At the top of each you will see a little navigation box with a clickable Next Blog.  I never really paid attention to it until this weekend.

Today I thought I would just try it out.  I was amazed at how many blogs I found that I never even knew existed.  I found some pretty quality gaming blogs by doing it along with full blogrolls of gaming blogs that I never even visited before.

Is it possible there are gaming blogging communities out there that don't know each other exist?  After hitting next blog I found out there really is.

It seems that our little blogging community is just a small community.  This whole time I thought we were the only gaming bloggers out there.

It is one of those things where I think someone copies someones blogroll, and the next blogger copies that blogroll.  Eventually it is a 25 blog community with everyone having the same blogrolls.

Do you think there are other blog communities out there thinking the same thing?

Can you find some new gaming blogs to add to your blogroll?

  1. It really just comes down to spending the time and *really* searching for them. Most gaming communities, forums, fan sites, etc. aren't run as a business for profit - so the admins may not know or care to do SEO. This means you probably won't find them on the first page of Google searches or even for often-used keywords.

I take part in running two blogs/fansites dedicated to one specific game so our community is quite close... but I still utilize Google Alerts for several key phrases and end up finding a few new blogs, articles, forums, etc. about the game that I would have never known existed.

Twitter searches are another way to find out about new gaming communities. You may have to trawl through a lot of garbage (or warez torrent links) but when there's something out there at least 1 person is playing, I'm positive someone's talking about it somewhere.

  2. @Jordan

That is so true. I think most gaming blogs are just players who have passion for a game, and do no kind of SEO. They just enjoy playing the game, and writing about it.

I originally wrote two other blogs dedicated to one game, but once you experience burn out of a game, or lose interest it is hard to keep writing about it consistently.

Now with my general gaming it is harder to find those dedicated players since some days I may not mention the game they are playing. I like my broader topic choice now, and find it easier to find things to write about.

I haven't really used Twitter search much, but I will to see what else I can find.
