/Salute Arisechicken

Arisechicken you are godly. I saw you today in a Caledor Woods scenario. I was so excited to see another Warhammer Online Blogger playing.

I tried everything to annoy you, and slow you down. I kept silencing you, slow boiling you, and pyroclastic surging you. I hope at least I annoyed you a little bit. I got a kick out of doing it. I am easily amused sometimes.

I even tried killing you. I swear to the Mythic gods your health bar never goes down. I even tried heal debuffing you with playing with fire, and you just keep going like the energizer bunny.

At the end it looked like a few others finally decided to target you, and you received one death. I am not sure how Order can just let you dish out 250k of healing, and never try to kill you.

Remove Diminishing Returns on Renown in Warhammer Online

I hate the diminishing returns received on renown when killing players. I have always hated the mechanic, and I wish it would be removed from Warhammer Online.

Have you ever had an epic one vs one battle with another player on Warhammer? You stand over their dead body, and glance over at your combat box to see you only received 1 renown for killing a RR80 player because you killed him 3 other times earlier with the zerg.

Is it fair that you get punished for the more hours you PvP? Should you just play a few hours a night instead?

It just doesn't make sense in a pvp based game that these mechanics still exist. I know it will breed cheaters who will hide somewhere and kill trade. Is it really worth punishing the 99% of your honest player base because of 1%?

Why am I bringing this topic up of diminishing renown? Because the new city mechanics that will be RvR based is just around the corner. What incentive is there if you have to kill the same black orc over, and over for 1 renown. It is the whole reason I have hated stage 1 of city sieges. After the first five minutes you are just wasting your time.

I want to get full renown for every kill no matter if I killed that player once, or one hundred times that day.

Do you like diminishing returns on renown in Warhammer Online?

Keep Doors Will No Longer Respawn in Warhammer Online

I like the new hot fix of keep doors no longer respawning automatically. Once the keep door is destroyed you actually have to repair it to be up again from buying wood, and applying it to the door.

This should help with some new strategies in the game when it comes to taking keeps. It used to be very aggravating to be in a huge battle on the second door, and than the first door would automatically respawn, and players were locked out if the keep attack/defense lasted longer than fifteen minutes.

This way big keep battles can keep going like they should of since day one. Now reinforcements can keep coming, and make it a fun battle for the keep.

This is definitely one step closer to making ORvR better.

Is Gorfang Really Dominated by Order?

I keep hearing, and reading that Order dominates the Gorfang server in Warhammer Online. Is it really true? It doesn't seem that way to me since I started playing again.

It seems every scenario I am in are just random players pugging it. Are there premades? It seems that I see Destro premades, but I don't really see Order ones. I rarely see Order winning a scenario. I spent more time on the ledge in Doomfist Crater than I did actually fighting because Order seemed to always be spawn camped.

I joined a guild, and once again they don't use Ventrilo except for PvE. No one is ever on it. How can guilds even function without it? What good is a guild if everyone is just doing their own thing in a scenario.

I hate to break the news, but if you have six people from your guild grouped up, but you can't communicate on Ventrilo than it is not a premade, but just another PUG.

Order Still Fails at Nordenwatch in Tier 4

Why, why, and why? You would think by now players would know how to play in the Nordenwatch scenario once they get to tier 4 in Warhammer Online.

Why do all the Order players still stop at the lighthouse flag? The fort is where the points are, and the best place to fight and defend. It doesn't take the whole faction to stand at the lighthouse.

Quitter Debuff is Worth It Sometimes

After playing scenarios non stop the last few days I noticed a five minute quitter debuff is worth leaving the scenario sometimes.

If it is a premade, and you may be lucky to get 100 renown for 15 minutes of frustration it is much easier to just leave, and take the quitter debuff.

I would rather waste five minutes of getting no renown than wasting fifteen minutes, and letting someone farm renown off of me instead.

So yes I am a Quitter, and proud of it.

Playing with my Bright Wizard Specs

These past few days I have been playing around with a few Bright Wizard specs. I tried all three mastery trees, and I think I finally found one that works for me.

Initially I ran with my old spec of Conflag with a mix of Immo. It worked ok, but I didn't feel like I was really killing anyone. It felt like AoE wasn't like it used to be where you could blow up ten people at once.

My next spec I tried was Incineration with a mix of Immo. I once again didn't like it too much. It feels like I am always stopping, and waiting forever to cast one spell. I hate being a sitting target while trying to dps someone else down.

My last spec I tried was full Immo with a mix of Incineration. I love it. Almost all my spells are instacast. I like Withering heat because it causes damage from start to finish unlike in the other trees casting time is wasted dps.

I like to start my spell rotation with Nova, Ignite, Boiling blood, Detonate, and Playing with Fire, and finishing them off with Withering Heat. It really seems to work very well. I am able to even kill tanks with this spec pretty easily.

Right now I am running with the following tactics with this Immolation spec. I use Endless Knowledge, Fan the Flames, Devour Energy, and Ignition.

Wasdstomp Goes Postal

Wasdstomp decided to go postal today on his HDD. Why? I was sick, and tired of looking at icons on my desktop of games I no longer have any desire to ever play again.

I uninstalled Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 2, World of Warcraft, Aion, Dungeons and Dragons, and a few other useless programs.

Hopefully the gaming gods reward me somehow by making this bold move.

/Wave to Other Warhammer Online Bloggers

I saw a few familiar faces yesterday, and gave you a /wave. You probably didn't know it was my Bright Wizard.

I first saw Perle Fighting on the Flag in Doomfist Crater. He wasn't fighting, but healing like a mad man.

Even though Blazeric isn't playing Warhammer much I did spot him in Doomfist Crater yesterday.

My Thoughts After My First Day Back to Warhammer Online

My first day back in Warhammer Online went pretty good. My renown bar isn't moving as fast as I would like, but not bad for pugging every scenario today.

I am not sure if the Doomfist Crater live event is completable. I did at least 50 scenarios today, or at least it felt like that many. One of the tasks requires you to kill players with the Ore. The problem is no one carries it.

Somehow I have to kill 50 players with it, and my total after today is only nine. I am going to find it nearly impossible to somehow get 41 more in the next two days with less playing time.

Weekend Warfront Draws Me Back to Warhammer Online

All I can say is Never say Never. Once again I have found myself resubscribing to Warhammer Online.

Why did I decide to give WAR another chance? Only one thing made me decide. What was this one thing?

Believe it or not it was a Twitter I saw from Mythic. What Twitter would make me decide to play a game I hate?

All I had to see was Doomfist Crater as the scenario for all tiers this weekend. I have great memories of this place with my bright wizard.

I couldn't resist playing one of my favorite scenarios as a Tier 4. I am sure after getting Wasdstomped a few times from premades I may regret my decision.

At least for the next 30 days I will be playing Warhammer Online again. I still feel like I must get RR80 with one of my characters to feel like I accomplished something, and roll the credits.

Deadlift Imperial IPA is my MMORPG Gaming Beverage of Choice

I highly recommend Widmer Deadlift Imperial IPA while playing MMORPG's. The taste is unbelievable, and the best part is the 8.6% Alc/Vol. I have always been an IPA beer fan, but this one is now my all time favorite.

I am not sure if it's a new trend, but it comes in a 4 pack bottle pack for the price of most micro 6 packs. The price is around $8 for a 4 pack, but it is well worth it.

Wasdstomp Gets An Extreme Makeover

I gave Wasdstomp an extreme makeover. I was tired of it looking like every other Blogger blog out there. I hope everyone enjoys the new look, and feel.

Still Undecided

I have visited many gaming sites in the last few days. I am looking for that one game that jumps out at me. It is weird. It seems nothing is interesting me enough to lay down some cash for.

I am extremely bored, and I need to find something to kill some time.

A Little Poker

I played a little poker tonight for a change of scenery. I had fun, but I had some of the worst hands ever. I put a pretty huge dent into my nest egg of fake poker chips. I think I lost over 10k tonight, and never lasting very long in any of the 90 player sit n go. My best finish tonight was around 25th which is pretty pathetic when normally I make it to the final table.

The final straw tonight was I had an Ace high straight, and I decided to go all in. I get beat with four Jacks after the turn, and river. It was unbelievable.

Burnout or Boredom?

Is it burnout, or boredom these days with my gaming?  I am really struggling with sticking with a game.  Why does it seem nothing keeps me interested for long any longer?  I can't even find the motivation to play lately.  I used to play 60+ hours a week on top of my full time job.

After 10 years am I just sick of MMORPG's?

Are my expectations set to high?

Do I want things handed to me?

Is it the grind to get to the part of the game I enjoy?

Is it real life pulling me away?

Where did the passion go?

Am I just getting old, and losing interest in gaming?

It just seems all odd to me. I still get excited every time I read about a new game, and buy a new game. It fades fast. Within a few weeks I don't even feel like logging in. I can't even last a whole month long subscription now without being bored.

Gripe Of The Week

My gripe of the week this week is me wanting to change Wasdstomp.  I want to expand about the things I talk about.

I really want to talk about sports more.  I am an avid sports fan, and would love to talk about everything in the sports world to add a little variety to Wasdstomp.  Would it be stretching what a Gaming Blog should be?  Sports are games right?

I just don't feel like trying to maintain a separate sports blog.  Do you think I could blend the two into Wasdstomp?  Should I just call my blog Wasdstomp, and not Wasdstomp Gaming Blog?

Wasdstomp This

I just wanted to let everyone know just in case they haven't noticed.  I decided to make everything related to my blog use Wasdstomp.  It should make it easier to identify me with this blog.  You will now see my posts say written by Wasdstomp, my Twitter is Wasdstomp, and any comments I leave here, or on other blogs will also use Wasdstomp, and so on.

Perfume Removed From Allods Online

In Today's patch Allods Online removed Perfume.  Unfortunately it was replaced with Incense.

Beat My Bracket In March Madness College Basketball 2010

Over on ESPN I joined the tournament challenge for the NCAA March Madness Bracket for College Basketball.  I created a group Wasdstomp, and I challenge anyone to join my group, and try to beat me.

Does Allods Online Need A Third Faction?

Will Allods Online face the same problem as Warhammer Online by only having two factions?  How do you keep the populations balanced?

I have been seeing more, and more League ragequitting over the population imbalance. Is it really an imbalance, or is Empire just better organized, and better players?  Are League just quitters, and not banding together to fight back?

Is a third faction needed, or is there a better way to fix the problem before it gets way out of hand? I saw how in Warhammer Online on the Dark Crag server how Order domination eventually killed the server. I still read how usually one faction still mostly dominates the other even with the underdog system on the remaining servers.

Does being able to have a character on both factions on the same server play into jumping on the winning side?

Why do MMORPG's keep coming out with only two factions? Why has Warcraft never had these problems with just Alliance, and Horde?

I Miss Ruin From Warhammer

I miss my old guild Ruin from Warhammer.  Why is it that this guild has made such an impact on me?

I have no desire to play World of Warcraft with them. I just can't stand the game any longer.

I just miss everyone in Ventrilo. Yes, we were a zerg guild, but we had fun. We made friendships, and lots of them. I don't believe for one second that in a zerg guild you are just a number.

If you spoke up in Ventrilo than you probably made a lasting impression with me. I still feel like everyone is my friends.

I logged into their Ventrilo for the first time in months. You know what happened? I was greeted immediately. Everyone actually missed me, and to tell you the truth I missed them.

It was just like old times of joking around, and having fun. I really wish I could get into Warcraft again, but it will never happen just so I could play with them again.

How can I get this same feeling in a guild in Allods Online, or should I try to make a Ruin branch?

Joining A New Guild In Allods Online

Yesterday I joined a new guild in Allods Online.  I basically was just asking around in zone chat, and someone invited me.

At first I thought it was going to be good. I get into guild information, and look for a website, or ventrilo information. I see nothing listed.

I see the roster is pretty active with 20+ characters, but I just can't see how any guild can operate these days without vent. When I asked about it they said they didn't want to hear a bunch of 12 year old school boys because that is all that plays free to play games like Allods Online.

How can you pvp, or even pve without vent? I left the guild. Would you join a guild without vent in Allods Online, or any MMORPG?

Cash Shop Additions Allods Online

I keep saying how much I love Allods Online. Every day they do something that simply amazes me it seems.

How can you complain about them adding Water of Life, and Water of Death to remove talents, and rubies to the cash shop? How about the new blue Dragonhide Backpack with 30 slots. Can you believe it? It is even less than the other backpack originally was. They even added a blue bank deposit box that expands to 48 slots.

How can you not love what Allods Online is doing to this game? They are the first game I have seen that really listens, and cares about their players.  I think the Allods Online Cash shop is proving that a free to play mmorpg can be successful.

Allods Online Gripe Of The Week

My gripe this week about Allods Online is the abandoned guild I am still in.  I am having issues with myself about it.  Should I just take it over, or join another guild?

Currently I am in the guild Domination. Basically everyone has left, but I am still wearing the guild tag along with just a few others.

On one hand I feel like taking over as guild leader, and actively recruiting. I just have limited playing time still for another month or two.

I would join another guild, but I see zero advertising. I sometimes wonder if the population dropped off that much, or everyone is running solo.

Things may change once the patch hits, and guild tags are visible.  I guess it's just a waiting game.

Allods Online Really Listens To Players

I keep loving Allods Online more, and more.  You have to love a MMORPG where you can vote on changes you want to see happen.

It sounds like Fear of Death may go away in Russia which means more than likely it will here in NA too.

Should they make some other death penalty though?  If Fear of Death is removed what kind of penalty would you like to see added?

Bounty Hunting in Allods Online

Today there is another GM event to hunt down, and collect a bounty by killing the GM's. It is happening in the Holy Lands today at 4pm, and 5pm.

World Champion Coffin Carrier Allods Online

I think I should be entered in the Guinness Book of World Records for the amount of coffin runs I did tonight.

The reputation quest in ZIT is the most annoying so far. I had to carry coffins to three crypts across the zone about twenty times. I know it has to be a world record for the amount of coffins carried.

Anyone know how I contact Guinness?

LFG Allods Online

No, I am not looking for a group. I am looking for Guild Tags on players. I am finding it annoying to not know what guilds players are in.

Is it something that eventually will be patched in, or is it at the bottom of Allods Online list of things to do? I have looked high and low thinking that maybe I have a setting wrong, but I haven't seen anything.

Is it annoying to you to not see a players guild tag?

Allods Online Cool Stuff

Today I completed a quest in Allods Online that I thought was pretty cool.  I guess sometimes it doesn't take much to entertain me.

I Love Allods Online GM Events

I really think Allods Online is doing the things that players love.  All of the MMORPG's I have played the last few years have had no GM sponsored events.  Today Allods posted an event to fight the devs five man team in the Arena for the Goblinball Challenge.

How exciting is it to actually fight against the devs who made the game?  How many people do you think are going to show up, and watch it?  I think this shows how much they care about the Allods Online community.  This is what makes this game so great.

Allods Online Gripe Of The Week

The gripe of the week is a new feature I am going to do on Friday.  This week my gripe is about Allods Online since that is the game I am spending the most time in.

The first thing I am going to gripe about is the quest clarity.  Is it due to translation issues, or are they really that poorly worded?  It seems I have run across many quests that really don't even make it clear what you are supposed to do.  Most of the time I just start killing things in the area, or try using things that appeared in my quest bag.

My second gripe this week about Allods Online is also related to questing.   Some quests require you to target mobs after they are dead.  The first example are the spiders in ZIT.  You have to mummify them once they are dead.  I have two different issues with it.  The corpse can't be targetted even though it seems the mob is standing directly in front of you, and the corpse disappears faster than your mummifying casting bar takes.  These spiders cast a web on you when they are close to dying.  If you are a caster you have to wait for it to wear off before you can get close enough to the corpse, and by that time it's to late.

Summary:

Make quests easier to understand the objectives, and please increase the time a corpse lays on the ground if so many quests require additional objectives once mobs are dead.

Where Did The Guild Recruitment Spam Go In Allods Online?

The first few days the guild recruitment spam in Allods Online was everywhere.  I was trying to decipher it all, and make a decision.  I never see any guild recruitment spam in chat now.

Did everyone bail?  It seems like there are still tons of people running around so it doesn't make sense.  It even seems the guild recruitment threads on Allods Online forums are inactive too.

The guild I found last night ended up being a one night stand.  I thought we had a pretty good core started, and than I decide to log on to vent tonight.  The guild leader lays it on me two seconds later.  He, and a few others of the guild decided to reroll League, and abandon us.

I thought it was a pretty lame move on the guild leaders part.  I am now looking for a guild again since I don't think the one I am in will last now.

High Five To Allods Online

Allods Online deserves a high five today.  They announced the new item shop prices, and I was simply amazed.  I really thought in the back of my mind they wouldn't reduce the prices as much as they did.

It is nice to see they actually listened to their players, and took all the feedback pretty seriously.  It makes me just want to go on a shopping spree tonight to show them my appreciation for everything they did.

On top of lowering the prices, they are refunding the difference to anyone who paid the crazy prices the last week.  This is going above, and beyond for customer service.  It is unbelievable.

Hopefully other companies look at Allods Online, and see how they turned a negative into a positive.

Cruising Along in Allods Online

I think I have finally figured things out in Allods Online.  My xp is going pretty steady now.

I found a guild to join called Domination, and having a pretty good time.  I forgot how much fun it can be on vent.

I hit level 14 today, and hopefully one or two more levels tomorrow.  It feels pretty good to be in a guild with people around my level.

What level are you?

Allods Online Slimecrawler

Slimecrawler in Allods Online needs to die, and live in Purgatory forever.  The quest for some reason no matter what I do will not work.  I would love to take some salt, and watch it shrivel up and die a horrible death.

I finally had to abandon the quest.  I tried killing him near the pipe, in the water, away from the pipe, try to solidify before looting, grouping, and none of the above ever worked.  After killing Slimecrawler about ten times I decided to just abandon the quest.

It was a bit confusing because one part of the quest said to kill him near the pipe, and the other part said not to kill him by the pipe because it would clog the drain.  I am not sure if it was lost in translation or what.

Were you able to complete the quest?

Free Storage in Allods Online

Would you like bottomless storage in Allods Online?  Why pay an outrageous amount on the cash shop?  This isn't the perfect solution, but it is definitely better than buying extra bank storage, or a backpack with an extra 6 slots for real life money on the cash shop.

Is the suspense killing you yet?

I use the auction house workaround.  I just put stuff on the auction house at gpotato pricing.  Once it expires it will stay in your mail for over 29 days.  It is like free storage except you do lose your small auction house deposit.  You never know someone might buy it too.

It won't work for when you are out questing, but when you do go in town it works great.
